Blockchain technology in the space

Day by day, we see how cryptocurrencies are being implemented to everyday life slowly but surely. We are sure that you’ve already heard that now blockchain technologies become really popular in the systems of the several state and private companies all over the world.

A couple of days ago NASA has made an announcement that they had decided to implement Ethereum-based technology to enable easy and improved communication and navigation in the space. Obviously, blockchain technology is the best match to meet these requirements. The system will use basic “smart contracts” technology to build a spacecraft, which will be able to think by itself allowing it to detect and dodge floating debris automatically.

Jin Wei Kocsis, an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Akron, Ohio, received a $330,000 NASA grant to support her research. She said, she would prove that with a help of blockchain technology it is possible to find a way of sending and receiving data easily and almost effortlessly between the space and the Earth.

At the same time, this project is making a huge contribution to Ethereum and blockchain technology. Such blockchain implementation proves that blockchain is the technology of our future which can be used in different spheres.
